According to Forbes, the population of the Raleigh’s (MSA) metropolitan statistical area has expanded 47.8 percent since 2000. It tops among the nation’s 52 metropolitan areas that have a population of more than 1 million. That’s three times more than the overall 12.7 percent average growth of those 52 metro areas.

Factors like the estimated rate of population growth for 2012 and 2013, the rate of job growth in 2012, growth in gross metro product, unemployment statistics and median salaries for college-educated workers were all considered.
